Front-end Web Developer and Graphic Designer
I'm Brandon Winecoor, a 17-year-old from Morganville, NJ, passionate about web design/development. I've learned to code in HTML, CSS, and have learned the basics of JavaScript while in my school's Web Design Pathway Program. Beyond coding, I enjoy travel, video games, spending time with friends, and watching movies.
In high school, I learned HTML, CSS, and JavaScript through the Web Design Pathway Program (WDPP), progressing from structuring content to styling and implementing interactivity. This hands-on experience honed my technical skills and fueled my passion for web design and development.
I've developed a strong foundation in JavaScript, mastering variables, loops, and conditionals through an interactive learning experience that provides practical skills.
As I learned Figma and navigated the interface, I grasped the design basics and created simple shapes. I'm getting the hang of text editing, collaboration tools, entry-level prototyping, and layer organization. Exploring plugins, responsive design, and connecting with the Figma community are expanding my foundational skills laying the groundwork for my growth in design proficiency.
In my journey to learn CSS, I utilized MyGreatLearning, where I delved into the essentials of styling web pages, progressing from basic concepts to responsive design. This hands-on experience provided a practical foundation for my exploration of web development as I prepare for college.
During my internship at VNW Media- a web, digital marketing company, I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to be a part of a web design project that played a pivotal role in learning all about design and programming.
Throughout this experience, I was given responsibilities that were challenging to say the least. But with patience and determination, I was able to acquire skills that I applied to help redesign the home page for Surface Defender. Within time, we learned that this resulted in 30% increase of user engagement, conversion rates of 20%, enhancing the user experience.
My supervisor and mentor at VNW Media recognized my passion for learning and taking on a project head on, with little to no experience. I was given the opportunity to intern there again next summer and am so eager to create more digital experiences that will help me strengthen my capabilities.
My job as a Junior Counselor required me to look after around 20-30 kids, take them to activities, ensure they were safe, and always ensure that I was friendly and patient. As a bus counselor, I took attendance, confirmed everyone had their seat belts on, and ensured they followed the rules.
When I used to go to Friendship Circle, I helped a buddy with a disability. It was 2 hours every Sunday, and during those two hours, we did different activities, such as music, dance, cooking/baking, arts and crafts, and playtime.
In the yearbook club, I was required to find creative ways to design the yearbook pages I was assigned. Meetings were every Thursday, and we made outlines of the page and put in whatever text and photos we needed.
